The patient who is 1) present and 2) has the longest time in line should be seen next, no matter if that patient is Walk-In or Express. Thus, you should always see the patient at the top of the list UNLESS, their status is “Not Present” (Express patient who hasn’t arrived yet).
In this example, the phlebotomist would call Marry up to be registered, then Lars, given that John has not arrived at the laboratory yet (his Status is “Not Present”).
